Chemical composition and leishmanicidal activity of Pulicaria gnaphalodes essential oil
Background and objectives: Several natural compounds have been identified for the treatment of leishmaniasis. Due to a few safe drugs and the side effects caused by available chemotherapy, some new drugs for treatment of leishmaniasis are requested. The genus Pulicaria (Asteraceae) is represented in the flora of Iran by five species. Phytochemical studies on Pulicaria species have revealed some...

full textExtraction and Antibacterial Activity of Pulicaria Gnaphalodes as a Natural Colorant: Characterization and Application on Wool Fibers
Pulicaria gnaphalodes has various biological activities and is used as an herbal plant in traditional medicine. The major components of the aqueous extract of this plant are flavonoids, terpenoids and phenolic compounds which could be a good candidate for dyeing of wool fibers. In this study, the aerial part of Pulicaria gnaphalodes plant was extracted and used for the colorat...
full textAntimicrobial Activity of Pulicaria Dysenterica L.
Three extracts of Pulicaria dysenterica were examined for antibacterial activity using the agar disk-diffusion method against six bacterial strains. Some of these extracts were found to be active against some bacterial strains. The methanolic extract exhibited a superior level of antibacterial activity. All of the extracts were active against Vibrio chlorea.
